Obituary for Robert E. Darby
Robert E. Darby-Age 83. A native of Charleston, South Carolina,resident of Atlanta, Georgia, died February 2, 2022, at Grady Hospital. Mr. Darby was born on April 23, 1938.
He leaves to cherish memories, his two children - Dr. Rwanda Darby Campbell (Lloyd) of Glenwood, MN and Chád Mboya-Joe Darby (Dr. Janine) of Eagleville, PA. He is most proud of his grandchildren-Lloyd Campbell, III; Gent Campbell, Chadé Darby, Ty Darby, Dion Darby, and Avani Darby. He also leaves a devoted brother/friend, John Morris of Atlanta, GA, a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Darby, the mother of his children, Wanda Robinson Darby, and his second wife, Jackie Caffey Darby.
Mr. Darby graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina. He matriculated to Morehouse College on an academic scholarship and graduated in 1961. He remained a staunch supporter of his Alma Mater.
He worked for Fisher Body Plant for several years. Mid-Career, he transitioned to Hotel Food and Beverage Services, where he worked at several Atlanta midtown hotels. He worked most recently at the Ellis Hotel.
