Obituary for Sandra Rose Sermons Clark
SANDRA ROSE SERMONS CLARK Mrs. Sandra Rose Sermons Clark, age 65, of 271 Cambridge Avenue, Decatur, Georgia died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia. A memorial service will b held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Young Funeral Home, 1107 Hank Aaron Drive S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30315. A 'Celebration of Life" for Sandra Rose Sermons Clerk will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Serenity Church, 1619 North Lee Street, Valdosta, Georgia. Pastor Jimmy Boyd will officiate with Dr. Curtis Sermons as eulogist. Mrs. Clark was born July 16, 1947 in Hahira, Georgia to Arizona Stewart Sermons and the late Johnnie Benjamin Sermons. Interment will followin Rocky Hill Church of God in Christ Cemetery, Mineola, Georgia according to Stevens Funeral Home, Valdosta, Georgia. Visitation will beheld Friday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.at the funeal home located at 215 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Valdosta Georgia. She received her formal education in Lowndes County, GA graduating from WestsideHigh School, Valdosta, GA in 1965. She did additional studies at Ft. Valley State Univiersity, Ft. Valley, GA and DeKalb Technical College, Decatur, GA. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Lee Clark, October 19, 1990, Decatur, GA. She dedicated her life to Christ early at Rocky Hill Church of God in Christ, Mineola, GA, later joining New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist, Decatur, GA serving faithfully in the Mother's Ministry. Sandra's love for children was endless and she fullfilled that passion by accepting jobs at The Sunshine House, The Phoenix School and Decatur High School all located in Decatur, GA. Those cherishing her memories are her mother, Missonary Arizona Sermons, Hahira, GA; three sisters, Geneva (Robert) Miley, Adel, GA; Johnsie (Gregory) Banks, Hahira, GA and Julia Sermons, Columbus , GA; three brothers, Alvester Sermons, Valdosta, GA and Henry Sermons and Johnnie Benjamin Sermons III, Hahira, GA; two uncles, Elder Arletha (Gladys) Sermons, Hahira, GA and Elder Amos Darring, Jacksonville, FL; an aunt, Mrs. Alma Stewart, St. Loius, MO; sister-in-laws, Jessie Sermons, Atlanta, GA; Dora Johnson and Annie Joe (Morris) Malcolm, Ellenwood, GA; Norma (L.C.) Hardy, Cleveland, OH; Brother-in-laws, Bobby Clark and Johnnie (Sarah) Clerk, Ellemwood, GA; Henry (Janice) Clark, Atlanta, GA, and Harvey (Muriel)Clark, Cleveland, OH. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family, her church family and friends. Services entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 215 E. Martin Luther King, Jr., Valdosta, Georgia 31601.
