KEVIN PORTER
Kevin Porter was born on February 1, 1955. His birth certificate says February 2nd, Ground Hog’s Day, but his mother assured us that he was born on the first. She always said, she knew because she was there.
He was born in Cleveland, OH, the fifth child and the fourth son of James and Mildred Porter, making him the middle child of his mother’s nine children.
Kevin grew up playing baseball in his early years, migrated to basketball during his teens, and played mostly for teams sponsored by The Good Samaritan Center and coached by his father, James.
He graduated from John Hay High School in 1973. He moved to Atlanta several years later and worked at AC Delco until that installation closed. He moved on to work for a freelance handyman service for several years before landing in the security field and eventually Dupree Security Group.
He loved music, and most sports; including WWE wrestling, but in his heart, he was a baseball man.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Sharra’ Wimberly and Brittaney Latimore; son, Whitney Latimore (Darrishia); brothers, Roger (Phyllis), Joseph, Glen (Diane); and sisters, Heather Jackie Hughes, Fay Denise Lampkin, Kimberly Dawn Copeland, and Danielle Smith (Randall); and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
