Obituary for Eric Dwight Gervin
Eric Dwight Gervin, the fifth and last child of the late Robert F. and Beatrice H. Gervin, Sr., was born on February 13, 1962 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. A life-long resident of the city, Eric received his education in the Atlanta public schools, graduating from the Henry McNeal Turner High School in 1979. Eric's resonant tenor voice propelled him to Israel with the high school choir and later in life, he shared his musical vocals as a wedding singer. He attended, along with his mother and siblings, the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Auburn Avenue under the pastorate of Rev. M. L. King, Sr. He worked as a law clerk with the law firm of Troutman and Sanders in Atlanta until his health declined. He spent his remaining years spreading joy, bringing smiles, and sharing light in the lives of countless friends and relatives. Eric transcended this earthly realm to his eternal place of rest on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Peachtree Christian Hospital in Duluth. He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Robert F. (Mary) Gervin of Albany, GA, Tyrone and Meteye S. Gervin, both of Atlanta; a brother-in-law, Rueben Jones of Atlanta; three nieces (Susan, Courtney, Rachael) and two nephews (Bobby & Nehemiah); and a host of other close relatives and cherished friends.
