Obituary for EMMA McCLURE JACKSON
Emma McClure Jackson of the Atlanta area passed away peacefully March 10, 2015. Emma was born on January 6, 1938 in Upson County, Thomaston, GA, the third child and only daughter to the late Wallace G. McClure and Elberta McClure. She made her heavenly transition on March 10, 2015. Emma accepted Christ at an early age, and was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where her father served on the board of trustees, and her mother was a mother of the church. Her formative years were spent in Atlanta, GA where she attended David T. Howard High School, and was a graduate of Carver Vocational School. As a young woman, Emma worked at the legendary Paschal's Brothers where she met and was influenced by many civil rights leaders and stellar artists. She continued her career in the restaurant and food service industry while working at the famous jazz club, the Birdcage. She provided many years of service to Dynatron Bondo, and later went on to establish two restaurants with her late husband, Carranza Morgan. Emma was vibrant and full of life. She never met a stranger, and her heart was as big as her heartwarming greeting, "Hey baby, how 'you' doing". Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Carranza Morgan; brothers, Silas McClure, Paul McClure, and Wallace G. McClure II; and son, Stanley B. Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers, W.S. McClure (Hazel), and Adlai S. McClure (Gwen); one daughter, Lolita Woodward; four sons, William M. Woodward, Keith A. Woodward, Calvin Jackson, and Alvin Jackson; four grandchildren, Indira Woodward, Alvin Jackson, Jr., Shaunya Jackson, and Chamaur Mitchell; two great grandchildren, Darin Jackson and Brayden Leach; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Arrangements are as posted.
