Obituary for CANDES STYLES
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2Timothy 4:7 KJV Candes Trevenus Cook-Styles was born on May 3, 1957 to the late John Thomas Cook, Sr., and the late Genevieve Jordon-Cook in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was known for her bubbly personality, humor, and trickery that were shared with everyone she knew. Candes was the life of the party. She had a very contagious smile, witnessed by everyone, and it will always be remembered by family and friends. Candes was united in holy matrimony to the late Alvin Styles on February 12, 1983. Two daughters were born to this union. Candes graduated from Brainerd High School, Chattanooga, in 1975 where she was active on the varsity basketball and volleyball teams. She furthered her education at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She worked for Hasting House under the Tennessee Department of Family Services and Chattanooga Parks and Recreation. Recently Candes and her fianc, Lamon Weaver, became business partners at the Shoe Repair Plaza in Atlanta, and where she was affectionately known as the "Shoe Lady." Candes grew up as a devout Christian and member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, Chattanooga. She later became an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Atlanta, as a member of the Pastor Support Team Ministry. Candes was dedicated to her pastor and the first family. Family and friends were very dear to Candes, as she was to them. On Sunday, December 6, 2015, she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Candes leaves to cherish her memories and legacy her fianc, Lamon Weaver; two loving daughters, Twyla Styles and Sharika Styles; one grandchild, Alvin Reginald Lamon; four brothers, John Thomas Cook, Jr of San Diego, CA, Morris T Cook and Anthony L. Cook of Chattanooga, and Timothy Jerome Cook of Atlanta; four sisters, Gwenevere Cook-Johnson of Chattanooga, Constance Cook-Riley of Atlanta, Liz Cook-Thomas (John) of Nashville, and Altovise Cook-Magruder of Harlem, NY; one aunt, Alice D. Stallion of Detroit, MI; dear friend Isabella Squire; five nephews, Antoine Cook, Kennatta Cook (Alethea), Jeremy Fant (Yvette), Johnthony Walker, Patrick Riley, and Thavis Magruder; two nieces, Erica Cook and Keandris Cousin; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
